HCMC – The Ministry of Health on July 24 announced that a 57-year-old male resident of Danang City had tested positive for Covid-19 three times even though he had no recent travel history.

The patient, who lives with his wife and daughter in Lien Chieu District, has not taken any trips out of the city for some 30 days, according to the ministry.

On July 7, the man went to the Ngu Hanh Son Healthcare Center to take care of his mother. He continued to look after his mother at Danang Hospital on July 16.

After returning home from Danang Hospital, he developed symptoms of fever and fatigue on July 17. The man went to a wedding party at the For You Palace Wedding and Convention Center on September 2 Street on July 18.

The man visited Danang C Hospital for medical examination on July 20. His test results came back positive for Covid-19 on July 23.

The third test result of his sample, which was sent to the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang last night, also showed that he was infected with the coronavirus.

The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is testing his sample for the fourth time and the test result is expected to be announced this evening.

Dr. Nguyen Tien Hong, deputy director of the Danang Department of Health, told Thanh Nien Online that the patient’s health is weakening, so he is on a ventilator.

Danang C Hospital has locked down the entire hospital, stopped receiving new patients and prevented inpatients from leaving after the patient tested positive for Covid-19, Hong said.

After being notified of the case, the municipal Department of Health asked those who had come in close contact with the patient and his family members to be tested for Covid-19. Accordingly, 102 samples tested negative for the coronavirus.
