Danang shuts down field hospital at indoor stadium

HCMC – The Danang government has shut down a field hospital at Tien Son Indoor Stadium, as it has received no Covid-19 patients since its establishment two months ago.

The field hospital was set up in August due to a record surge in Covid-19 case numbers in Danang City, the local media reported.

The hospital, which was planned to operate as a medical center managed by the Danang Hospital, accommodated 300 beds in the first phase. The municipal government had prepared 500 medical workers and volunteers at the hospital to respond to emergency situations.

However, the city has brought the pandemic under control, so the field hospital has not received any patients.

During the second Covid-19 wave, the Hoa Vang Field Hospital and Danang Lung Hospital took the main responsibility for treating Covid-19 patients. Of these, the Danang Lung Hospital was in charge of critical cases while the Hoa Vang Field Hospital would receive Covid-19 patients who have to receive dialysis treatment.

The field hospital at the Tien Son Indoor Stadium would be used for patients with minor symptoms.

The last Covid-19 patient in Danang was discharged from hospital on September 23.
