HCMC – The Dong Nai government has proposed the Government ask for the National Assembly’s approval for the province to retain VND4.57 trillion from the land use fee of the resettlement areas for the Long Thanh International Airport project.
The proposal was aimed at facilitating the province to continue allocating capital for road projects connecting with the Long Thanh International Airport project, Phap Luat newspaper reported.
According to the province, over the past two years, the province’s economic growth has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the African swine fever. Meanwhile, the province has been facing difficulties in raising budget revenue.
As for the traffic infrastructure system connecting to the airport, Dong Nai has been completing investment procedures for roads 770B and 773.
The 770B road project will have a length of some 42.5 kilometers, starting from an intersection with road 763 in Dinh Quan District’s Suoi Nho Commune and ending at an intersection with National Highway 51 in Long Thanh District’s Phuoc Thai Commune. The road project needs an investment of more than VND8 trillion.
Meanwhile, the 773 road upgrade project requires an investment of over VND4.3 trillion.
Once completed, the road will help link Xuan Loc, Cam My and Thong Nhat districts with the Long Thanh International Airport project.
Thus, the two road projects need a total investment of VND12.3 trillion.
Moreover, the Dong Nai government has proposed the prime minister adjust the feasibility report for some components of the airport project.
Specifically, the province has suggested stopping the execution of two subprojects: the technical infrastructure in the third area of the resettlement area in Binh Son Commune and the social facilities of the resettlement area.
The suspension of the two subprojects will reduce the investment in the airport project by some VND4.1 trillion.
If the province is allowed to retain VND4.57 trillion from the land use fee of the resettlement areas for the airport project, together with VND4.1 trillion saved from the suspension of two subprojects, it will retain some VND8.7 trillion.
The province proposed using the amount for the 773 and 770B road projects. The remaining VND3.6 trillion, which is needed for the two road projects, will be sourced from the province’s budget.
The project to take back land and compensate, support and resettle households affected by the mammoth airport project was approved to be conducted from 2017 to 2021. The investment for the project amounted to over VND22.8 trillion and has been allocated sufficiently, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
