HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap is preparing to put three Covid treatment facilities back into operation to cope with a recent surge in new Covid-19 cases.

Doan Tan Buu, vice chairman of the provincial government, asked the local Covid treatment sub-committee and the relevant units to prepare to reactivate the three facilities which were closed earlier.

One of them is located in Sa Dec City and the rest in Cao Lanh City.

Speaking at a working session held yesterday, November 11, the vice chairman tasked the provincial Health Department with coordinating with the relevant agencies to arrange human resources and medical equipment for the facilities in line with the Health Ministry’s regulations. They also have to ensure public security, fire safety and pay attention to waste treatment at the facilities.

The provincial Military Command, the Police, Construction, Natural Resources and Environment departments are responsible for sending security personnel to the facilities.

As of November 10, there were 17 Covid treatment facilities and field hospitals in the province, with a total capacity of 3,315 beds. To date, 2,148 beds have been set up.
