HCMC – Gabor Fluit, CEO at De Heus Asia, has been elected as chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Vietnam, replacing Alain Cany.

Fluit worked at ABN AMRO Bank in the Netherlands from 2005 to 2008. In mid-2008, he switched from finance to agribusiness and became chief executive officer of De Heus Vietnam, an animal feed manufacturer.

He has been serving as CEO of De Heus Asia since November 2015 and was elected vice chairman of EuroCham Vietnam in March 2021.

At a meeting held last weekend, EuroCharm Vietnam elected four new vice chairs: Dominik Meichle, managing director of Bosch Vietnam; Torben Minko, CEO of the German medical device company B. Braun; Claudia Anselmi, director of Hung Yen Knitting & Dyeing Company and leader of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam; and Jean-Jacques Bouflet from the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam.

The new EuroCham Vietnam chairman said during the meeting that Vietnam was offering many business opportunities for foreign companies.

With over 1,300 members, EuroCham Vietnam has been the voice of the European business community in Vietnam since 1998. European firms currently employ some 150,000 people in Vietnam.
