HCMC – The Cho Moi-Bac Kan will be developed with four lanes, instead of two as previously planned, with investment capital rising from VND2 trillion to over VND5.7 trillion.
The Ministry of Transport has recently approved adjustments to the investment plan for the Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway project in the northern province of Bac Kan, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
Under this revised plan, the expressway will span nearly 29 kilometers, starting from the Thai Nguyen-Cho Moi Expressway and ending at Bac Kan-Cao Bang Expressway in Bac Kan.
Developed as a complete four-lane expressway, it will have a road width of 20.5 meters and a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
Previously, the expressway was slated to have only two lanes, with a road width of 11 meters and a total investment of over VND2 trillion, as per the Ministry of Transport’s decision in 2021.
In line with directives from the prime minister, the Ministry of Transport has instructed the Project Management Board 2 and related units to prepare a feasibility study report for the project, transitioning from the initially planned two-lane concept to a full-fledged four-lane expressway.
Once operational, the Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway is anticipated to complete the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen-Bac Kan expressway route and bolster transport connectivity in the region.
