HCMC – Multiple fires have erupted in HCMC, raising concerns about fire safety as the city is experiencing a heat wave with scorching temperatures and low humidity.

At least two fires were reported in District 10 on March 6. The first incident occurred early in the morning at a tree shop, followed by a midday blaze that engulfed a coffee shop located within an alley.

These incidents came after a fire on March 2 that broke out in a three-story house in District 6. Although the owner narrowly escaped with minor burns, the property suffered extensive damage.

A furniture store in HCMC was engulfed in flames on February 27, causing significant traffic disruptions on Cong Hoa Street in Tan Binh District. No fatalities were reported in these incidents.

The causes of these fires are under investigation.

The dry season, which typically lasts from December to April in HCMC and other provinces in southern Vietnam, heightens the risk of fires due to the combination of rising temperatures and reduced humidity.

Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and adhere to fire safety measures.
