HCMC – Ferry services between the islands, including Phu Quoc, and the mainland of Kien Giang Province resumed early this morning, July 14, after a three-day suspension induced by bad weather.

Tran Van Tai, director of the Kien Giang Maritime Administration, said the ferry services on the Phu Quoc-Rach Gia, Phu Quoc-Ha Tien, Rach Gia-Nam Du and other routes have been allowed to resume to handle a large number of tourists stranded on the islands since Monday.

At the Bai Vong port in Phu Quoc City, its express ferry terminal was thronged with passengers this morning. As a Superdong III vessel departing from mainland Ha Tien arrived at the terminal, hundreds of tourists were already waiting there to get onto the ship, Thanh Nien Online reported.

The Thanh Thoi ferry terminal of the Bai Vong port area was also crowded with tourists waiting to leave the island.

Sea passenger transport operators have increased the frequency of their services to meet the high demand.

Nguyen Ngoc Thoi, director of Thanh Thoi Company, said, “We’re trying our best to increase ferry trips, but it will be hard to transport all passengers and vehicles within a day since we are allowed to operate only for a certain period.”

As shared by Nguyen Thi To Nga, sales director of Superdong Fast Ferry Company, her company could not hike ferry trips. However, she added that the company will transport all stranded tourists today.
