Fico-YTL builds platform for the future

Must read

FiCO Tay Ninh Cement Joint Stock Company, or Fico-YTL, has over the years had a mission of being the “Building Platform for the Future”, which incorporates both its business strategy and community vision.

“Since the first day of operation, Fico-YTL has maintained the mission to build the platform for the future to contribute to the country’s prosperity,” said a representative of the company. In the journey to realize its vision, the company has sought to collaborate with partners to maximize values for the community via its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, one of which is the Dong Tam Charity Club.

Since 2009, the Dong Tam Charity Club has mobilized contributions from other organizations and individuals to build up to 192 bridges in rural areas, 70 houses for poor people, and 11 schools in the southern part of the country, with a total value of VND11 billion.

Fico-YTL has seen the Dong Tam Charity Club as a trustworthy partner, and has decided to work with the club and club manager Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai to realize its community projects.

Since 2021, Fico-YTL has donated VND3 billion via the club to build 19 bridges in rural areas, with 16 of them entirely financed by the cement maker and the remaining three receiving free cement from Fico-YTL.

Ms. Mai of the club said she is impressed with the “Building Platform for the Future” vision of Fico-YTL as it lays the groundwork for the long-term development of the community.

“I highly appreciate the generous contributions of Fico-YTL in developing bridges and roads in rural areas. Despite multiple hardships in the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath, Fico-YTL has always accompanied the club to build bridges and roads,” she said.

The club manager recollected the multiple hardships by residents in rural and remote areas in the Mekong Delta due to the lack of roads and bridges, as locals and students had to cross rivers and canals on aging boats in bad weather. Many deadly accidents occurred, while farmers also found it tough to sell their crops due to impeded transportation.

“Therefore, I called on benefactors to make contributions to build bridges in the rural Mekong Delta to ensure safety and convenience for residents and children. In addition, new bridges will also facilitate villagers to develop household businesses and improve their income, contributing to the local economy,” she said.

Fico-YTL, a member of the multinational corporation YTL, is operating a cement factory in Tay Ninh Province and grinding stations in HCMC and Binh Duong Province.

The company’s community programs focus on three major areas of construction of rural roads and bridges, sponsoring education and sports, and environmental protection.

In the past few years, Fico-YTL has made tremendous contributions to infrastructure development in Tay Ninh Province’s Tan Chau District. These included donations of VND12.4 billion worth of 10,000 tons of cement to build Road 794, VND11 billion for constructing the New Saigon Bridge, and VND300 million for building two classrooms at Tan Hoa C Primary School.

On December 28 last year, Fico-YTL handed over a cultural complex worth VND170 million in Ninh Dien Commune in Tan Chau District. The complex includes a children’s playground, a sports section and other amenities.

In the fiscal year 2023 alone, Fico-YTL has spent VND11 billion on 20 community projects, benefiting over 40,000 residents.

Most recently, the company signed an agreement on August 8, 2023 with Tan Chau District to finance social welfare programs, with VND600 million for 2004 and an extra VND600 million for 2025.
