HCMC – The Ministry of Transport and the south-central province of Khanh Hoa have given the go-ahead to two sections of the 117.5-kilometer Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway project, which will connect Khanh Hoa and neighboring Daklak Province, at a total cost of VND15.7 trillion.

The Khanh Hoa government said on March 19 that the chairman of the province had signed a decision developing the first section of the first-phase expressway. Costing an estimated VND5.3 trillion, the section in Ninh Hoa Town will be 31.5 kilometers long.

The Ministry of Transport has also passed a plan to implement the second section of the Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway. With a total length of some 37 kilometers, the VND10.4-trillion section will link Ninh Hoa Town in Khanh Hoa and Daklak Province’s M’Drak, Krong Bong and Ea Kar districts.

The third section of the expressway is 48 kilometers long and passes through Ea Kar District. Work on this section will start in 2026, the local media reported.

The Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot expressway will need around VND22 trillion and allow automobiles to travel at a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The expressway will begin at the intersection between National Highway 26B and National Highway 1 in Khanh Hoa and end at the intersection with Ho Chi Minh Road in Buon Ma Thuot City, Daklak Province.
