HCMC – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission has proposed that the committee’s Secretariat expel four former officials of Danang City, including former chairman of the municipal government Van Huu Chien, from the Communist Party for serious violations.

The other officials comprise Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, former vice chairman of the city; Nguyen Dieu, former director of the municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment; and Dao Tan Bang, former secretary of the municipal Party Committee of Industrial Parks, Thanh Nien newspaper reported.

The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission on September 14 announced the results of its 48th meeting in Hanoi from September 9 to 11.

Accordingly, Chien and his predecessor Tran Van Minh were involved in a case relating to the violation of regulations on the management and use of State assets and State rules on land management, resulting in losses of more than VND22 trillion for the city.

Minh was expelled from the Party in October 2018 and was later sentenced to 17 years in prison.

At the first-instance trial in January this year, Chien was given 12 years behind bars. He later lodged an appeal against this court ruling, seeking a shorter jail term.
