HCMC – Transport enterprises have reduced their charges by 4.5-14.7% due to lower fuel prices.

In the road transport sector, some 63.98% of taxi transport businesses have lowered their rates by VND800-1,000 per kilometer, down 4.5-12%.

Roughly 44.6% of the passenger transport businesses with fixed routes have revised down their charges by 5.26-14.7%, while the freight of tourist transport enterprises and commercial vehicles has fluctuated during certain periods.

As for the railway sector, given the fall in fuel prices, the railway transport companies have brought the freight down twice, falling 5%  in cargo transport and 5-10% in passenger transport.

Amid the fuel price adjustment, the airlines have managed to stick with the registered prices listed on their websites.

Early in 2022, the Transport Ministry attributed the high transport cost to the increasing prices of fuel.

Specifically, the passenger and cargo freight rates in the road sector have been raised by 5-10% and 10-20%, respectively, while that of railways and rides to islands has soared 3-5% and 15-20%, respectively.

On the other hand, the freight of inland waterway transport businesses has remained unchanged and airlines have offered flexi-fares to passengers on domestic flights to adjust prices.

To keep the fares in moderation, especially during holidays and the Lunar New Year, the Transport Ministry urged the relevant authorities and agencies to register the freight and keep a close watch on fuel prices.
