HCMC – Gia Lai Province has approved a VND790-billion project to build a 50MW solar farm, which is scheduled to get off the ground late this year.

The project will be developed in Bong Son Ward on an area of about 46.2 hectares, according to Decision No. 1826/QD-UBND issued by the provincial government.

The plant is expected to generate around 86.74 million kWh of electricity per year and connect to the national grid at the 110kV level.

The connection plan calls for a double-circuit 110kV transmission line linking the plant’s booster station to the Hoai Nhon–Phu My transmission line.

The project will be carried out through a bidding process to select an investor. Provincial authorities said the project aims to supply renewable energy to the national grid and support local socioeconomic development.

Of the investment cost, around VND750 billion will go toward project implementation, while compensation, support, and resettlement costs are estimated at nearly VND39.9 billion.

Construction is expected to start in December 2026, with operations scheduled to begin in March 2028.

The provincial government required the investor to use the site only for solar power operations and not alter the terrain or affect approved mineral planning in the area.

The investor must also remove equipment and restore the site after the project ends or if the State later plans mineral extraction in the area.

Provincial agencies have been assigned to coordinate investor selection procedures and oversee land, environmental, mineral, and forestry requirements for the project.
