HCMC – Given the spike in Covid-19 cases, the northern city of Haiphong has ordered a stop to recruiting employees who have yet to receive two vaccine shots.
The municipal government sent this request to the Haiphong Economic Zone Authority, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade yesterday, December 10, reported Vnexpress.
The two agencies were urged to review and make a list of employees at industrial zones, industrial clusters and business facilities who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated, and send the list to the city’s Health Department.
District-level authorities were given the same tasks. Besides, they were asked to ramp up efforts to raise public awareness about the benefits of the Covid vaccination, encourage expecting women, the elderly, people with underlying health conditions and children eligible for vaccination to go to local medical centers to get vaccinated.
According to the municipal government, new Covid infections linked to the unvaccinated at industrial zones are rising. From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on December 10, the city reported 109 fresh cases, raising the total in the fourth wave of infections to over 2,000 cases.
Up to now, Haiphong has administered over 2.7 million doses, with 1.5 people receiving the first shot and 1.2 million people getting two shots.
