HCMC – The Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi City scrapped the rapid Covid testing service today, December 16.

The service was deployed from July to ensure that passengers test negative for Covid-19 before boarding their flights and promptly detect positive cases to prevent the spread of the disease.

Due to the high number of fully-vaxxed passengers and the declining use of the rapid Covid testing service, the city’s airport decided to stop the service, the local media reported.

A representative of the Noi Bai International Airport said that under the Ministry of Transport’s regulations, before departure, air passengers who reside in extremely high risk Covid transmission areas, those under lockdown, those who board flights from extremely high risk areas, or depart from the Tan Son Nhat and Can Tho airports must have a negative test result valid for 72 hours.

As such, these passengers should proactively take a rapid Covid test at the Covid testing sites authorized by the Ministry of Health, according to the representative of the airport.

Meanwhile, other passengers only have to meet one of the following three requirements: proof of full vaccination, with the second dose taken at least 14 days earlier but not more than 12 months before departure, proof of recovery from Covid no more than six months before departure, and a negative test result taken within 72 hours before departure.
