HCMC – Hanoi-HCMC has become the fourth busiest domestic route in the world, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said, citing travel data from OAG.com.

OAG is the world’s leading provider of digital flight information, intelligence and analytics for airports, airlines and travel tech companies.

According to OAG, the busiest domestic flight routes are defined as those with the largest volume of scheduled airline seats in 12 months from October 2021 to September 2022.

Under OAG’s criteria, the Hanoi-HCMC route was the world’s fourth busiest domestic air route with over 8.56 million seats sold, leaping two notches compared to 2019, the year before Covid-19 struck.

Nine out of the 10 busiest flight routes were from the Asia Pacific. The busiest was the Jeju–Seoul Gimpo route with 16 million seats, followed by the Sapporo New Chitose Apt–Tokyo and Fukuoka–Tokyo flight routes with over 10 million and nearly 9.9 million seats, respectively.
