HCMC – After many days of continuous effort by the railway sector to address landslides caused by flooding, the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway route has resumed operations, facilitating the transport of relief goods to flood-affected areas.

At 10:40 a.m. on September 15, following the removal of over one kilometer of mud from the railway in Nga Quan Commune, Tran Yen District, Yen Bai Province, the Vietnam Railways Corporation reopened the entire Hanoi-Lao Cai rail line.

As of yesterday, nearly 700 tons of relief goods has been loaded onto trains from Song Than station and other stations along the North-South railway, destined for the flood-affected regions of Yen Bai and Lao Cai.

The floods, triggered by typhoon Yagi, had previously caused 15 locations on the Hanoi-Lao Cai railway to be blocked by fallen trees and left 20 sections submerged under water.

Vietnam Railways Corporation is currently offering free transport services for relief goods heading to the northern flood-affected areas.

Relief goods can be shipped from various stations, including Saigon, Song Than, Nha Trang, Da Nang, Hue, Dong Hoi, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Giap Bat, and Hanoi.
