HCMC – Hanoi will introduce a range of innovative moves to diversify tourism experiences and foster inter-agency collaboration.

Relevant agencies have been told to develop specialized agricultural zones that have high-quality One Commune, One Product (OCOP) products, establish experiential tourism villages, and rejuvenate traditional craft villages.

Vietnam’s OCOP program specifically targets locally-sourced goods at the village and commune levels. The effort aims to increase rural incomes and generate employment while preserving cultural values within rural communities nationwide.

Hanoi’s abundant cultural heritage, including its temples, pagodas, and festivals, will receive enhanced promotion to boost cultural tourism.

Among the innovative promotional activities undertaken is the night tour at the Temple of Literature, complemented by cultural and artistic events that celebrate historical anniversaries.

The city is also upgrading its shopping, dining, and entertainment facilities to enrich the visitor experience.

Hanoi saw an upsurge in tourism during the first four months of 2024. International arrivals jumped by 59.8% compared to the previous year, while domestic tourism increased by 19.1%, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Historical and cultural attractions in the city drew 1.3 million visitors during the period, achieving 47.5% of the annual target. This generated some VND70.4 billion in revenue, or 93.9% of the full-year’s goal.
