HCMC – The two operational urban railway lines in Hanoi City transported nearly five million passengers in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of over 13%, according to Metro Hanoi Company.

Between January and March, more than 39,000 train trips were operated across the two lines.

The Cat Linh–Ha Dong line recorded over three million passenger trips, up more than 13% compared to the same period last year. Ticket revenue exceeded VND20 billion, rising 9% year-on-year.

The Nhon–Hanoi Station line served around 1.5 million passengers, generating over VND9 billion in revenue.

Metro Hanoi is working with public and private partners to improve connectivity between urban rail services and other transport modes. These include the Hanoi Transport Corporation (Transerco) bus network, Tri Nam’s public bike-sharing system, VinBus electric buses, and ride-hailing platforms such as Xanh SM and Grab Vietnam.

For the full year, Metro Hanoi aims to operate over 161,000 train trips, surging 47% compared to 2024, and serve more than 19 million passengers. It projects annual revenue of over VND111 billion and post-tax profit of more than VND20 billion, up 24% and 34%, respectively.

To meet these targets, the company plans to enhance its workforce training and operational capacity to ensure safe and uninterrupted service on both lines throughout the year.
