HCMC – Nguyen Van Lanh has been removed from his posts as secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang for his violations in the procurement of Covid test kits.
According to the provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Commission and the Department of Health, Lanh’s violations have caused serious consequences, the local media reported.
Earlier, Lanh said a Viet A staff had come to his house with a gift, including VND450 million, on December 3 last year. On the afternoon of the same day, he took the gift to the headquarters of the Hau Giang CDC and reported the issue to the provincial government.
The Hau Giang Police later seized the gift for investigation.
Lanh became director of Hau Giang CDC in 2020.
In this case, Huynh Thi Hong Doan, head of the CDC’s division of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and Ha Tan Binh Dang, head of the division of Testing-Image Analysis-Functional Exploration, were also dismissed from their posts.
