HCMC – The HCMC People’s Committee has written to the relevant agencies and the Thu Duc City People’s Committee underlining the price control measures taken in the last four months of 2022.

According to Dispatch No. 2830 on August 12, the HCMC People’s Committee has requested other relevant agencies to review the price listings within their competence and promptly report cases of price gouging in the city to the committee and the Department of Finance.

The HCMC Department of Finance is keeping a close eye on the price movement of essential goods, proactively analyzing and predicting the movement of the market and working on appropriate solutions when needed.

The department was also assigned to supervise the price listing measures, inspect the observance of regulations, strictly handle pricing violations and publicize violation information in the mass media.

It’s necessary for the department to closely monitor the supply and demand of essential goods and services. At the same time, the department should coordinate with other agencies to implement market stabilization measures, especially measures to stabilize the market of food products.

The Department of Industry and Trade has joined hands with the Department of Finance to analyze and predict the market movement and come up with effective solutions to balance market supply and demand as well as control prices.

The Department of Planning and Investment is coordinating with other departments and agencies to focus on eliminating difficulties in production and ensuring a stable supply of goods and services.

The Department of Transport is responsible for closely monitoring fuel price movements and reviewing the charges set by transport firms to make appropriate adjustments for the prices of input materials, mainly fuels.

The department was also assigned to supervise the transportation businesses’ observance of their price listings and point out solutions to control and stabilize prices. Harsh sanctions would be imposed in cases of price gouging.

The Directorate of Market Surveillance is enhancing an inspection into the observance of the relevant law, strictly handling cases of speculation and price gouging and publicizing the results in the mass media.

The People’s Committee of Thu Duc City and districts is in charge of controlling the sales points that sprung up without planning around traditional markets and residential areas.
