HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has asked HCMC and Dong Nai Province to hand over cleared land this month to start work on the Tan Van-Nhon Trach section of the Ring Road No. 3 project. The road will connect HCMC, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An.

The road, including 6.3 kilometers running across Dong Nai Province and 2.45 kilometers in HCMC, will link Provincial Road 25B in Dong Nai’s Nhon Trach District and the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway in Thu Duc City.

The component project was approved for investment in mid-February 2020, according to the ministry.

On March 18, the ministry wrote to the two local governments asking them to complete the land handover before March 31 for the construction of the component project, set to begin in late March. However, work on the package has yet to start due to a slow handover of cleared land.

On April 4, the HCMC government agreed to hand over a 1.32-kilometer section at a coconut farm in Thu Duc City for the ring road project.

However, as of the end of April, HCMC had yet to allocate sufficient capital for site clearance, while authorities had yet to complete compensation and site clearance procedures for the remaining sections which are over 900 meters long, according to the My Thuan Project Management Board, which is in charge of managing the project.

Meanwhile, as of late April, Dong Nai had handed over a section of 640 meters for the component project. The remainder has yet to be ready.

To break ground for the component project in May, the ministry urged HCMC and Dong Nai to allocate capital for site clearance and direct competent agencies to complete compensation procedures.

The 90-kilometer ring road will comprise four sections: Tan Van-Binh Chuan, Tan Van-Nhon Trach, Binh Chuan-National Highway 22, and National Highway 22-Ben Luc, the local media reported.
