Dozens at Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital test positive for Covid-19

Must read

HCMC – Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital, a frontline hospital in HCMC for Covid-19 treatment, has found 17 patients and eight caregivers infected with Covid-19.

These patients are receiving medical treatment in Section B, which is treating tuberculosis and HIV sufferers, according to the local media.

A hospital representative said the source of infection might come from a caregiver in Binh Tan District, which has seen many pandemic hotspots.

The hospital has stopped receiving new patients to Section B so that the municipal Center for Disease Control can assess the transmission risk at the hospital.

Pham Ngoc Thach Hospital had earlier been divided into two separate areas, with one treating tuberculosis and HIV patients and the other treating Covid-19 patients with severe clinical conditions. The hospital has received 433 Covid-19 patients.

HCMC has detected many medical workers, patients and caregivers infected with Covid-19 in many other hospitals, such as the Tan Phu District Hospital, the Saigon General Hospital, the University Medical Center, the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases and the HCMC Oncology Hospital.
