HCMC needs over 18 million Covid booster doses in 2022

HCMC – HCMC is planning to administer Covid-19 booster shots to its residents with a total of over 18 million doses next year.

Deputy director of the HCMC Department of Health Nguyen Hoai Nam on November 11 wrote to the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health proposing Covid vaccine allocations for 2022.

Among the 18 million doses, over 14.4 million will be given to adults, while over 1.5 million will be administered to children aged 12 to 17 and over two million to children at 3 to 11 years of age.

In addition, from now until the end of the year, the city will need over one million doses of AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Vero Cell for adults. The city also needs over 2.9 million doses for children.

As such, the total number of doses the city needs in November and December is some four million, the local media reported.

As of October 31, over 14.2 million doses of Covid vaccines had been allocated to HCMC, with more than 13.7 million doses administered to its residents and 900,000 doses transferred to other provinces and cities as required by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. The city now has over 900,000 doses of Covid vaccines.
