HCMC – HCMC is considering building a road to connect two major ports – Cat Lai and Phu Huu – with the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway and Beltway No. 3, according to the city’s Department of Transport.

The project is being integrated into the master plans for both Thu Duc City and HCMC, as well as broader regional planning. Once planning approvals are secured, the department will submit the investment proposal for further review, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

The proposed 60-meter-wide road will span six kilometers, stretching from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street to HCMC Beltway No. 3. This development is part of the city’s 2020-2030 traffic infrastructure development plan.

The project is expected to cost over VND8.7 trillion, with VND7.2 trillion sourced from the private sector and VND1.5 trillion from the city’s budget. The road is expected to be developed under a build-transfer model, as per National Assembly Resolution 98/2023/QH15.

The new road aims to ease traffic congestion around the areas of Cat Lai and Phu Huu ports, alleviate pressure on Nguyen Thi Dinh, Dong Van Cong, and Mai Chi Tho streets, and enhance logistics infrastructure in HCMC and elsewhere in the southeastern region.
