HCMC – HCMC plans to relocate nearly 46,450 homes along rivers and canals by 2030, reported the local media.
The effort includes clearing waterways, improving sanitation, and leveraging land resources for economic development.
HCMC Chairman Phan Van Mai has tasked authorities of 21 districts and Thu Duc City with identifying affected areas and propose suitable land for resettlement.
Compensation for residents will align with market prices for eligible properties, and additional support will be provided under existing regulations.
In addition to resettlement efforts, the city plans to auction unused state-managed land and review underutilized public land to ensure efficient use to raise funds for the project. Departments of Planning-Architecture and Natural Resources-Environment will review land use efficiency and recommend auctioning idle land assets to support the initiative.
Urban planning units have been tasked with reviewing land proposals and maximizing land value through improved zoning. Legal frameworks and community engagement efforts will support implementation.
