HCMC tracing contacts of Omicron cases

HCMC – The authorities in HCMC are rushing to trace those in direct contact with three community-infected Omicron cases that have been detected in the city to prevent transmission in the community, said secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen.

Nen said the Omicron cases had been detected promptly, proving the efforts of the healthcare sector and other competent agencies. He called on local residents to stay watchful, the local media reported.

According to a representative of the HCMC Center for Disease Control, after receiving the three patients’ genetic sequencing results from the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases, the center has quickly launched an epidemic investigation and found that they had eaten out with a 41-year-old woman who returned from the United States.

Among the three Omicron-infected patients, a 35-year-old man residing in Binh Chanh District is a doctor of Cho Ray Hospital and has got two Pfizer doses. In addition, a 31-year-old woman in District 11 has received three Covid vaccine doses, including AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer, while another patient, aged 48, who lives in Go Vap District has got two Moderna doses.

The number of people who came into close contact with them remains unknown.

The genetic sequencing result of the woman returning from the United States arrived in Vietnam has yet to be worked out.

The four have been sent to the field hospital No. 12 for treatment.

To date, Vietnam has detected three community-infected Omicron cases and 70 imported Omicron cases.
