HCMC – An upcoming export exhibition has attracted around 170 businesses with 250 booths showcasing a variety of items such as wooden products, food and foodstuffs, plastics, textiles and footwear.

The May 25-28 HCMC Export Expo at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in District 7 is part of the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade’s plan to support local businesses in exploring markets and finding potential partners.

Bui Ta Hoang Vu, director of the department, said this would be the first multi-industry expo to be organized in HCMC. The city plans to make it an annual event.

The expo will focus on business-to-business meetings and create an opportunity for participating companies to promote their brands to the city’s consumers.

Vu said, “We look to welcome 8,000 visitors. To date, around 2,000 visitors have registered to attend, with hundreds of them coming from India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the United States, Taiwan and Pakistan.”

The export expo will also have two forums discussing strategies to enhance Vietnamese agricultural produce and embrace the export of environmentally friendly products.
