HCMC – As Vietnam has secured enough Covid-19 vaccines for people aged 12 and above, the Ministry of Health has asked the Government not to encourage enterprises and localities to buy more Covid-19 vaccines.

According to the ministry, as of September this year, 56.9 million doses of Covid vaccines had been handed over to Vietnam, failing to meet the local demand. Therefore, some localities and enterprises sought to import the vaccines.

However, since October, the volume of Covid-19 vaccines shipped to the country has increased. As of November 16, international organizations and other countries had pledged to provide Vietnam with 198.86 million vaccine doses and Vietnam had received some 131 million doses.

The remainder were expected to arrive in Vietnam this month.

The vaccines are enough for two doses for all people aged from 12 in the country and booster shots for certain groups.

The Ministry of Health has directed localities to administer Covid-19 vaccines to residents at no charge. It has also submitted a plan on the Covid-19 vaccine purchase and use for next year to the prime minister.
