HCMC – The 10th International Livestock, Dairy, Meat Processing and Aquaculture Exposition, ILDEX Vietnam 2026, opened in HCMC on May 20, bringing together more than 230 businesses from 25 countries and territories.
Held alongside Horti & Agri Vietnam 2026 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), the exhibition runs from May 20 to 22 and focuses on technologies and solutions across the agricultural value chain, including animal feed, aquaculture, livestock farming systems, biosecurity and environmental management.
The exhibition also features technical seminars organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and industry associations, focusing on green agriculture, innovation and technology adoption aligned with national agricultural development goals through 2030 and a vision to 2045.
International participation at this year’s exhibition includes companies from China, North America, France, the European Union and South Korea.
At the U.S. pavilion, Arunas Vangas, president of Frondita Biogroup, said he returned to ILDEX Vietnam after his first participation in 2018, noting improvements in support services for international exhibitors, including interpretation assistance.
This year, the U.S.-based company introduced technologies for improving survival rates among newborn calves, which Vangas described as a key issue for livestock producers. He said the death of a newborn calf could cost farmers around US$2,000 in the United States and an estimated US$1,000 in Vietnam. While Frondita Biogroup operates across sectors including swine, poultry, livestock and aquaculture, he said Vietnam’s market presents opportunities to introduce technologies tailored to local farming needs and help producers access global agricultural innovations.

At the French pavilion, Julien Rogon, general manager of Cooperl Vietnam and the Philippines, showcased an adjustable farrowing system designed to reduce piglet mortality in breeding farms. Rogon, who has worked in Vietnam’s livestock industry for three years, said the lifting-floor technology could lower the risk of piglets being crushed by sows by up to 80%. Participating in the exhibition for the second time since 2020, he said the system was developed to suit local pig farming conditions and reflected growing demand for technologies that improve productivity and animal welfare.

Among visitors at the exhibition, Ali, a pig farmer from India, said he attended the event to look for waste treatment technologies for his farm. He said exhibitions featuring new agricultural technologies provide practical solutions for farmers seeking to modernize operations, although adopting such systems may require major investment and restructuring for large-scale farms in India.
Ali said Vietnam’s smaller-scale farming models could make it easier to pilot and adapt new technologies at his farm in Vietnam before potentially applying them more broadly in India, where his family is involved in managing the business.

Data presented at the exhibition showed Vietnam recorded 43.5 million tons of food output and 9.95 million tons of seafood production in 2025. Agricultural exports reached US$70.61 billion, generating a trade surplus of US$21.31 billion.
In the first four months of 2026, agricultural exports totaled US$20.03 billion, up 5.8% year-on-year, while the trade surplus reached US$5.47 billion. Livestock exports rose 45.5% year-on-year to US$245 million, with the sector targeting export value of US$1 billion, excluding animal feed, by 2027.
The livestock industry is also shifting from small-scale farming toward more industrialized production models with higher commercialization rates, according to information shared at the event.
