HCMC – Japan has expressed its interest in Vietnam’s US$67-billion North-South express railway project and other major infrastructure developments.
Speaking at a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc in Japan early this week, Japanese Minister of Finance Shunichi Suzuki said his country was ready to get involved in the express railway and other infrastructure projects in Vietnam.
Minister Ho Duc Phoc said that Vietnam was planning to begin work on the North-South high-speed railway in 2027.
Up to 30% of the US$67 billion amount required for the project would be raised from foreign sources, Phoc said, so Vietnam needs Japan to participate in the project as a financing party.
