HCMC – The Ministry of Health this morning, February 15, reported an imported Covid-19 case in Hanoi, a Japanese expert who died in Hanoi on February 13.
The man, 54, was an expert of Mitsui & Co. Vietnam Ltd. He entered Vietnam on January 17 and was quarantined in Ward 2 of HCMC’s Tan Binh District from January 17 to 31. He had two negative tests for Covid-19 on January 17 and 31.
On February 1, he flew to Hanoi and stayed at a hotel in Tay Ho District’s Quang An Ward. From February 1 to 13, he travelled between the hotel and his company.
At 7 p.m. on February 13, he was found dead in the hotel. His Covid-19 test result on February 14 was positive.
The cause of his death is under investigation.
According to the Hanoi Department of Health, the health agencies have taken samples from 296 people, including 210 guests and 86 employees of the hotel. The department has directed the municipal Center for Disease Control to coordinate with medical centers of Tay Ho District and Quang An Ward to put the hotel under lockdown and disinfect the surrounding area.
