HCMC – The central coastal province of Khanh Hoa has proposed welcoming international tourists who have a Covid-19 vaccine passport via charter flights from early next month.
The provincial government on October 5 said the province had sent the proposal to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the local media reported.
According to the provincial government, welcoming international tourists holding a vaccine passport has many advantages. More than 96% of residents aged 18 and above in the province have got one Covid-19 vaccine shot. By the end of November, all residents in the province are expected to receive two vaccine shots.
In addition, most workers in the tourism sector have been vaccinated against Covid-19. Those working at tourist sites, airports and other aviation services have received two shots.
Besides the control of the pandemic and a high vaccination rate, Khanh Hoa has many five-star tourist sites which are located away from residential areas.
During the first period from November to the end of December, Khanh Hoa will take tourists to resorts in the Northern Cam Ranh Peninsula Tourist Area.
From January 1, 2022, to March 31, 2022, the province will use the resorts of Vinpearl on Hon Tre Island, MerPerle Hon Tam, Champa Island and other resorts away from residential areas.
Khanh Hoa will focus on source markets which have brought the pandemic under control, such as China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Russia, Australia, France and Germany.
The movement of international tourists to Khanh Hoa will be monitored by travel companies and the competent agencies.
Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said the department had drawn up plans to welcome tourists, calling for the participation of tourism enterprises.
