HCMC – The Government has asked the National Assembly for approval to extend until the end of 2024 land clearance, compensation and support for resettlement of households affected by the Long Thanh International Airport project.
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Thang has been authorized to submit this request to the National Assembly for approval.
The Government has also proposed the allocation of over VND2,510 billion, originally part of the capital plan from 2020 to 2021, be extended until the end of the following year.
The statement attributes the need for this extension to the extended verification process for land clearance compensation, which was affected by Covid-19 lockdown measures from 2020 to 2021, as well as problems with land use rights documentation.
The VND22,938-billion project of land clearance, compensation and support for resettlement requires the revocation of over 5,399 hectares of land in Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province. While the first phase of the project was completed by 2021, the overall project has faced delays.
As a result, Dong Nai authorities have requested adjustments to the project, including changes in investment capital, the area of land to be taken back, rescheduling of the completion date, and the inclusion of residents affected by the construction of two roads connecting Loc An-Binh Son residential areas to the future Long Thanh airport.
