HCMC – Heavy rainfalls have triggered a landslide along a 325-meter railway tunnel section in Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province, disrupting the North-South rail services.

The incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. this morning due to incessant rains over the past few days, according to a railway official. Workers were immediately dispatched to the site to clear the debris and reinforce the tunnel passage.

No damage to any train was reported as the tunnel was already closed for reinforcement when the landslide occurred. The railway sector plans to transport passengers by bus to bypass the affected area, however repair units aim to complete the work by this evening.

Railway authorities often close the tunnel during off-peak hours for reinforcement to prevent traffic disruption.

Previously, the Bai Gio railway tunnel in the Deo Ca area of Khanh Hoa Province experienced a serious landslide, causing disruption on the North-South railway route for nearly 10 days.
