HCMC – Rescuers have found the body of the last passenger in the tourist helicopter crash in the waters between Quang Ninh Province and Haiphong City.

The body was recovered near Cat Hai District, Haiphong City, a few hundred meters from where the helicopter’s wreckage was found.

The Bell 505 helicopter, piloted by Colonel Chu Quang Minh, was carrying four local tourists over Halong Bay when it plunged into the sea. The flight took off at 4:56 p.m. on April 5 and lost contact 20 minutes later.

All five victims of the crash have been found dead. The aircraft’s black box was salvaged from the debris.

The Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, a unit of the Ministry of National Defense and the service provider, has recently suspended all helicopter sightseeing tours nationwide until further notice, said Dinh Viet Thang, director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Tourist helicopter trips at Halong Bay, Danang and Vung Tau were previously available all year round.
