HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today signed Decision 439/QD-TTg assigning Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To to run the Ministry of Public Security.

This decision comes shortly after the National Assembly relieved General To Lam of his role as minister of Public Security and then elected him as Vietnam’s President.

Tran Quoc To is in charge of the ministry until a new minister is elected.

Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, 62, is from Ninh Binh Province. He has a long career in the public security sector. His previous roles include a deputy head of the Police Investigation Agency under the Ministry of Public Security.

In March 2014, To was appointed Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee. He was later elected as Provincial Party Secretary. Since May 2020, he has been deputy minister of Public Security.
