HCMC – The domestic retail prices of petrol were hiked for the fifth straight time at 3.00 p.m. today, February 21, up nearly VND1,000 per liter, according to an announcement jointly issued by the Ministries of Industry-Trade and Finance.

The prices of bio-fuel E5 RON92 and RON95 petrol are now capped at VND25,530 and VND26,280 per liter, respectively, jumping by VND960 each, the local media reported.

The hike made the price of the RON95 gasoline exceed its peak in July 2014 at VND26,140 per liter and the highest ever since 2005.

Besides, the retail prices of kerosene and diesel oil also increased by VND750 per liter to VND19,500 and VND940 per liter to 20,800, respectively. The price of heavy fuel oil was adjusted up by VND280 per kilogram to VND17,930.

During this fuel price adjustment, the ministries decided not to impose a surcharge on bio-fuel E5 RON92, RON95 petrol, kerosene and diesel oil to replenish the national fuel price stabilization fund. However, the ministries charged buyers VND300 for each kilogram of heavy fuel oil.

Local fuel traders were allowed to tap the fund at VND250 for each liter of bio-fuel sold to customers, VND100 for each liter of RON95 petrol and VND300 for each liter of diesel oil.
