HCMC – From now onward, heads of hospitals and leaders of provinces and cities will be held responsible for Covid-19 transmissions in hospitals, the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control announced at a meeting today, August 6.
Members of the committee proposed that the prime minister impose harsh sanctions on leaders who violate regulations related to the responsibility, causing unexpected Covid-19 transmissions.
Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that the ministry is trying to effectively eliminate the Covid-19 hotspot in Danang City, with a high risk of infections in the three hospitals there, including Danang Hospital, Danang C Hospital and Danang Hospital for Traumatology and Orthopedics. He was speaking at the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, head of the committee.
The Ministry of Health will enhance an inspection into Covid-19 infection prevention and control efforts in localities, VietnamPlus news site reported.
He warned that many localities remain negligent and believe that the coronavirus outbreak is only rampant in Danang City.
Long asked healthcare centers and hospitals in localities across Vietnam to strictly follow Covid-19 infection prevention measures, including wearing face masks and maintaining a safe physical distance.
The ministry also told localities to proactively purchase medical equipment and test kits to conduct Covid-19 tests rather than depending on a testing assessment from the ministry.
