HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Long An has proposed the Ministry of Transport revise the Beltway No. 4 section that passes through the province to reduce costs and impacts on residents.

The proposed route is basically in line with the zoning plan but the section from National Highway N2 DT.825 to the intersection of the HCMC-Trung Luong expressway should be relocated toward the west of Vam Co Dong river.

According to the above plan, the section of Beltway No. 4 passing through Long An Province will have a length of 78 kilometers with the starting point at Thay Cai canal in the boundary areas of Long An and HCMC and the endpoint at the North-South axis at Hiep Phuoc port, Nha Be District, HCMC.

Though the revised plan will make the section five kilometers longer, it would cut site clearance costs and reduce the adverse impact on local residents. The project will need a total estimated cost of over VND43,400 billion for its first phase.

Earlier, HCMC proposed changing the city’s Beltway No. 4 to save VND4,000 billion and reduce the number of affected households.
