HCMC – Metro Line No. 1 in HCMC will start commercial service in December, according to the Management Authority for Urban Railways of HCMC (MAUR).

The trial, which began on October 1, will run until November 17 and will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will be overseen by the consulting firm, NJPT, and the second by HCMC Urban Railways No.1 Company Limited (HURC1).

The trial includes 47 operational scenarios, covering routine functions and emergency situations such as fires, power outages, and signal failures across different points along the route.

A total of 71 staff members, including train operators and station workers, will be involved in each shift. Trains will run at intervals of four minutes and 30 seconds.

Before the trial, MAUR said it had concluded agreements with contractors, including Hitachi, to use their equipment for staff training and trial operation.

MAUR said a safety review will be completed by November 30. The project will be reviewed for approval by the Ministry of Construction before the commercial launch in December.
