HCMC – Lee Jae Myung, President of South Korea, and his spouse arrived in Hanoi on April 21, starting a four-day state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse.

The presidential aircraft carrying Lee Jae Myung and First Lady Kim Hae Kyung landed at Noi Bai International Airport late in the afternoon.

Welcoming the delegation at the airport were Le Khanh Hai, head of the Presidential Office; Nguyen Minh Vu, permanent deputy minister of Foreign Affairs; Vu Dai Thang, chairman of the Hanoi City People’s Committee; and Vu Ho, Vietnam’s ambassador to South Korea.

Accompanying the president are senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science, ICT and Communications Bae Kyung Hoon; Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun; Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jung Kwan; Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun Duk; and key presidential aides.

This marks Lee Jae Myung’s first state visit to Vietnam since taking office. He is also the first foreign head of state to visit the country following the consolidation of Vietnam’s state leadership by the 16th National Assembly.

The visit is expected to further strengthen political trust between the two countries while advancing cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, and development to a new level aligned with their shared interests.
