HCMC – Nguyen Duc Tai, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mobile World Investment Corporation (HOSE, ticker: MWG), has registered to offload one million shares to address his personal financial needs.
The share sale will be conducted from September 9 to October 8 through either block deals or order-matching transactions.
If the transaction is successful, Tai will reduce his ownership in Mobile World from 33.44 million shares, equivalent to 2.287% of the retailer’s charter capital, to nearly 32.44 million shares, or 2.219%.
In June 2024, he successfully sold two million MWG shares amid a significant recovery in the stock price. From the end of 2023 to the time of the sale, the price of MWG shares climbed by over 80%.
Closing the trading session today, September 5, MWG plummeted by 1.74% day-on-day to VND67,900, with nearly 8.5 million shares changing hands.
On the southern bourse, the VN-Index lost 7.59 points, or 0.59%, against yesterday’s session, closing at 1,268.21 points, with 118 winners and 285 losers.
More than 665.6 million shares worth VND16.6 trillion were transacted on bourse, up by 3% in volume and 5% in value compared to yesterday’s trading session. Block deal transactions contributed VND1.8 trillion to the overall value.
Many blue-chip stocks slipped into negative territory, with GVR experiencing the largest drop of 2.3% to VND33,900 against the previous day. The stocks VCB, VPB, POW, MSN, STB, MWG, MBB, FPT, and PLX dropped by 1% to 2%.
HNG and HBC shares performed well on their final trading day on HOSE, following the announcement of their delisting as from September 6, 2024.
HNG surged by 6.9% to its daily ceiling price of VND4,680, with over 7.66 million shares traded. Meanwhile, HBC rose by 5.5% to VND5,750, with over 2.92 million units changing hands.
On the northern exchange, the HNX-Index lost 1.18 points, or 0.5%, at 234.96 points. Total trade volume was 42.9 million shares worth VND886.3 billion.
