HCMC – The Investigation Security Agency of the Ministry of Public Security has concluded an investigation into the second phase of the Covid-19 repatriation flight case, proposing filing charges against 17 individuals.
Tran Tung, former deputy director of the Thai Nguyen Province Department of External Affairs, is facing charges of accepting bribes and abusing his position and power while performing official duties.
The others facing bribery charges include Tran Thi Quyen, director of Sen Vang Dat Viet Company; Le Thi Phuong, former officer in the social, cultural and educational division of the Hai Duong Provincial People’s Committee Office; Nguyen Van Van, former deputy director of the Quang Nam Province Department of Health; Le Ngoc Tuong, former deputy director of the Quang Nam Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and Nguyen Manh Truong, former officer in the air transport department under the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Vu Hong Quang, former deputy head of the air transport department of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, along with nine others, are facing charges of giving bribes.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Xuan Thong, a former police officer, is accused of concealing a crime.
The Investigation Security Agency concluded that these individuals took advantage of the high demand for repatriation flights arranged during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to accept bribes for approving citizens’ quarantine and repatriation procedures.
