More than just holiday seasons

Summer holidays, and a few festive periods are traditionally considered peak seasons for the tourism industry. However, travelers have 52 weekends and 365 days a year for both leisure and work. So what can be done to boost tourism all year round, rather than just during festive seasons? During the National Day (September 2) holiday, Phu Quoc as a popular tourist destination, failed to attract as many tourists as expected. This is also what happened during the earlier holiday on April 30 and May 1. The beautiful island off Kien Giang Province saw visitor arrivals plunging over 26% compared to the same period last year. Other places of interest in the country faced the same fate. Local authorities attributed the decline in tourist arrivals to adverse weather conditions, transportation difficulties, rising travel costs, the conclusion of the summer season, and the start of the new school year. However, certain cities that are not typically tourist hotspots, such as HCMC, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, saw an unexpected surge in visitors, significantly bolstering nationwide tourism revenue during the National Day holiday.
