HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today, January 5, asked the National Assembly to remove Pham Binh Minh and Vu Duc Dam from the post of deputy prime minister in the 2021-2026 tenure.

The request came after the 13th Party Central Committee, at an extraordinary meeting on December 30, voted for the release of Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh, a 64-year-old native of Nam Dinh Province, from the Politburo and the Party Central Committee, and of Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam, a 59-year-old native of Hai Duong Province, from the Party Central Committee.

Earlier Nguyen Thi Thanh, head of the National Assembly Deputies Affairs Committee, read a request of the NA Standing Committee for revoking the status of Pham Binh Minh and Le Minh Chuan as deputies of the NA.

This afternoon, the NA Standing Committee will report on discussion outcomes from delegations of NA deputies and ask for approval of the requests for removing the two deputy PMs.

In the 2021-2026 term, the Government has four deputy prime ministers, namely Pham Binh Minh, Le Minh Khai, Vu Duc Dam and Le Van Thanh.

Following the removal of the two deputy prime ministers, the National Assembly will consider approving their replacements.
