HCMC – Vietnam had 1,716 new cases of Covid today, May 19, falling by 115 against the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

The capital city of Hanoi continued to have the highest case count, at 381, followed by Nghe An with 126 and Phu Tho with 111.

Other provinces reported fewer than 100 cases each, including HCMC with 46 cases.

The provincial health authority of Bac Giang today registered to add 1,012 earlier-detected cases to the national Covid monitoring system.

Nearly 9,600 Covid patients were announced to have recovered from the disease today, six times higher than the daily case count, while one Covid death was confirmed in Tay Ninh.

The Ministry of Health has adjusted the requirement on the screening of people entering hospitals and medical centers.

Patients and their caretakers are no longer required to show proof of a negative Covid test before entering hospitals. However, mask wearing and hand washing are still mandatory.

Those suspected of infection need to take a test and those found to be infected must be treated separately from others.

Over the past two years, all patients and caretakers had to be tested before they entered hospitals, while periodical tests were conducted on healthcare workers.
