Nine more imported Covid-19 cases reported

HCMC – The Health Ministry has announced that nine Vietnamese returnees from Russia, Japan and Qatar tested positive for Covid-19, sending the country’s total infections to 1,265 as of Sunday morning, November 15.

Among the new cases, one was quarantined in Quang Ninh Province, two in Khanh Hoa and six in Binh Duong upon arrival.

The patient who was quarantined in Quang Ninh is a 27-year-old man residing in Cam Due Commune, Cam Xuyen District, Ha Tinh Province.

On October 30, he returned to Vietnam from Russia on flight VN5062, which landed at the Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province. His second test result came out positive for the virus on November 13.

The patient is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi’s Dong Anh District.

The next two patients, who arrived in Khanh Hoa after returning to Vietnam, are a 30-year-old man from the Central Highlands province of Daklak’s Cu Kuin District and a 32-year-old man from Dong Nai Province’s Nhon Trach District.

They arrived at Cam Ranh International Airport from Japan on flight VN5311 on October 30.

They were found positive for the virus on November 13 and both are being treated at Khanh Hoa Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The six other patients, aged between 20 and 47, landed at HCMC’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport from Qatar on flight QR970 on October 30.

The patients, who are from Binh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, HCMC, Tien Giang and Ben Tre, are being treated at the Binh Duong General Hospital after their second test results on November 13 showed they contracted the virus.

Thus, the country has not recorded any new community-transmitted cases for 74 straight days.

Up to now, 1,103 Covid-19 patients in Vietnam have fully recovered, while 35 others have died of the disease, according to the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

Among the active cases, 14 people have tested negative for Covid-19 one to three times.

More than 15,700 people who came back from pandemic-hit countries or had close contact with Covid-19 patients are being quarantined at hospitals, quarantine centers or at home.
