No new Covid-19 infections reported on first day of Tet

HCMC – Vietnam reported no fresh cases of Covid-19 this morning, February 12, the first day of the Lunar New Year (Tet), keeping the nation’s tally unchanged at 2,140 cases, said the Ministry of Health.

Up to now, the number of locally-transmitted cases has reached 1,246, with 553 of them being recorded since January 27. Besides this, 1,531 coronavirus patients have fully recovered while 35 others have died of the respiratory disease.

Among the active cases, the 1,536th patient currently being treated at the Danang Lung Hospital is the most critically ill case. This patient is very old and had a medical history of diabetes and hypertension.

Further, more than 129,000 people linked to coronavirus patients or returning to Vietnam from virus-hit regions are under quarantine, according to data of the ministry’s national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.
