As the world continues to battle the pandemic, many people are struggling and in need of extra help. During this time of distress, the Mapletree-owned property Oakwood Residence Saigon has contributed 130kg of rice to cover essential needs of the unprivileged families, through ‘Give with Oakwood’.

In continuing to give back to the community, the award-winning serviced apartment successfully contributed rice to the needy, via a program under which a rice packet will be donated by the company whenever any guest made direct bookings for stays at the property between 19 July and 30 September 2021.

All rice packets were delivered to poverty-stricken families with children, under the Child Development Scholarship Programme of Saigon Children’s Charity CIO (Saigonchildren) on 12 October 2021.

This is the second year that Oakwood Residence Saigon has contributed as part of the global Give with Oakwood initiative.

“Children are amongst the most vulnerable members of society who suffer more significantly in times of uncertainty. We at Oakwood Residence Saigon hope that this contribution will provide them with staple food and healthy life during rough phase. The property will continue to uphold our group’s commitment to caring for its guests, associates and the communities it serves. It is crucial that we keep spreading kindness and give back to the less privileged members of society along our journey,” shared Vignesh Mani, general manager of Oakwood Residence Saigon.

“The pandemic has brought the toughest challenges that Vietnam has faced in a generation, with many families lacking income and food. Oakwood Residence Saigon has risen to the challenge through their ‘Give with Oakwood’ campaign, helping feed many of Ho Chi Minh City’s most disadvantaged children and their families. With help from the property, Saigonchildren is ensuring that children can stay in education and keep building a brighter future for themselves and their families,” said Mr. Damien Roberts, executive director of Saigonchildren.

Launched in 2020, ‘Give with Oakwood’ is Oakwood’s global campaign designed to spread kindness and compassion to vulnerable members of society, as part of the group’s commitment to caring for all guests, associates and communities. For every direct booking made with Oakwood, the respective property will be making a donation on the guest’s behalf to a nominated charity organisation.
